DESCRIPTION: The US-96960 Lifeline System is designed for use as an anchoring means for up to 2 persons, used where fall protection and horizontal mobility are required. Per OSHA regulations, horizontal lifelines shall be designed, installed, and used under the supervision of a qualified person as part of a complete personal fall arrest system with a minimum safety factor of 2. Qualified person is defined as follows:
“..one who, by possession of a recognized degree, certificate, or professional standing, or who by extensive knowledge, training, and experience, has successfully demonstrated his ability to solve or resolve problems relating to the subject matter, the work, or the project.”
Refer to applicable national standards, including ANSI Z359.1, local, state and federal (OSHA 1910.66 & 1626.502) requirements, for additional information on personal fall arrest systems.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: When ready to use the horizontal system, one must consider the following:
Personal Fall Protection: Use only OSHA /ANSI approved equipment.
Anchorage Points: Must be rigid and allow for a 2:1 safety factor or 5000lbs MBL.
Fall Distance: Measure the distance between working levels and lower levels, to allow adequate clearance for the system to function properly and not to come in contact with an obstruction and/or lower level. To avoid swinging or a pendulum effect, always work under your anchor point.

- Anchorage: The anchorage to which this product is attached must be capable of sustaining a static load in the direction applied by the personal fall arrest system of at least 3600 lbs. with certification of a qualified person or 5000 lbs. without certification. When more than one personal fall arrest system is attached to the same structure, the strength requirements stated above must be multiplied by the number of personal arrest systems attached to the structure.
- Plan your personal fall protection system. Before installing and using this equipment, consider all factors affecting your safety during use of this equipment.
- Warnings and instructions must be read and understood before using equipment.
- Equipment must be used by trained personnel only.
- Users must understand all OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and other relevant regulations and standards pertaining to fall protection equipment.

- FREE FALL: Ensure adequate clearance exist in your fall path to prevent striking an object. When the safety retractable is anchored above, a minimum of 6 ft. from the working level to the lower level or nearest obstruction is recommended, if anchored at feet level an additional 4 ft. Clearance is needed. Avoid working where your lifeline may cross or tangle with that of another worker. Do not allow the lifeline to pass under your arms or between your feet, never clip, knot, or otherwise prevent the lifeline from retracting.
